In addition to all of the fantastic music, we always like to provide tons of other fun at the festival, and this year is certainly no exception. Our beacon, the spectacular 60-foot Century Ferris Wheel, will be surrounded by our ever-changing eclectic mix of interactive art installations and roaming performers. These are just a few of the diverse offerings:
The Bandwagon Stage will again be entertaining the Cove this year, with four fun acts playing from 1PM onward each day. On Saturday, enjoy saxaphone at its best with Sexy Sax Man and the eclectic and interactive Fou Fou Ha. And Sunday, don’t miss San Francisco’s own Trumpet Kid and the unique Shovelman, playing instruments of his own design and making!
Now in its 5th year, stop by Camp DIY for all your festival crafting delights, from denim customization (hello, American flag short shorts), flower crowns, fringe t-shirt making, wood jewelry, leather craft and more—all brought to you by the creatives at Workshop SF. Just as the weather cools, we’ll bust out the ugly sweater party, turning vintage sweaters into legwarmers, arm warmers, scarves and more. DIY Mylar capes will make their return along with a Project Runway competition complete with local celebrity judges on hand to crown a Mylar Design Champ. Add in camp games and field day contests sponsored by Alite Designs and you’ve got Camp DIY.
Also not to be missed, be sure to catch Knit Bombing and the many quirky Box Trucks in the Grove, or the Shelter Co. Lounge where you can catch a glimpse of the mythological Hippocampus. At night, the sculptural installations illuminate: IDYLLIUM will light up the Silent Disco; Spike will create a fiery centerpiece in the Cove; and HYBYCOZO will create beautiful shadows around our lady Bliss Dance, and the Blumen Lumen.
